Tracy Chetna Boyd

YOGA THERAPIST | ERYT 500 | YTT INSTRUCTOR
Tracy draws inspiration from bearing witness to the transformational and healing effects that Yoga has had on her life and the lives of those around her. While she began Yoga primarily as a physical practice, it has become part of everything in her life.

Tracy has been teaching public, private, and corporate yoga classes across Victoria, BC since 2003. Her compassionate and therapeutic approach promotes an environment that is relaxing, empowering and fun.

As a registered Yoga Therapist, Tracy also provides therapeutic yoga for specific conditions, and has a special interest in Yoga for cancer. She offers weekly group meditation classes, through Inspire Health in Victoria, for individuals faced with cancer.

As a faculty member of the Salt Spring Island Centre of Yoga since 2007; Tracy is the Program Director of the 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training program and is currently working hard to launch the 300 hour YTT. She can also be found at the Salt Spring Centre of Yoga throughout the year leading revitalizing  two-day "Yoga and Wellness Getaway Weekend Retreats ".

My commitment to participants and students
I commit to: maintain and deepen my personal practice; to continue learning with respect and openness so that the fruits of this practice may benefit all beings; and, in the spirit of aparigraha (non hoarding, non greed, non possessiveness) to share what I learn.

Territory Acknowledgement

I acknowledge with respect the Coast Salish Peoples of the Lekwungen and W̱SÁNEĆ nations on whose unceded territory I teach Yoga in an effort to support the attainment of peace and well being. I am grateful to work and live here, and I honour the Nations who have always cared for these lands, waters and air and continue to do so today.

Spiritual Lineage Acknowledgement

In the spirit of Aparigraha (non-hoarding)I share what I have been taught. I am a student first and come from a long line of teachers and practice. I offer bows of gratitude to my teachers and have deep reverence for the practice of yoga. As a bi-racial (half Jamaican/half European) woman, Yoga is not born of my culture. I acknowledge that Yoga is a vast 5000 plus year old spiritual practice and even through my attempts, my teaching is not reflective of Yoga in its entirety. I take to heart what my teacher said and "I teach to learn" (Baba Hari Dass), not to show my power.
Love, grattitude and deep bows to my teachers:
  • Fay Campbell (my mother and first teacher)
  • Baba Hari Dass (Babaji) and my teachers at the Salt Spring Centre of Yoga
  • Joseph and Lillian LePage (Integrated Yoga Therapy)
  • Thich Nhat Hanh (Plum Village)
  • Pema Chodron (Gampo Abby)
  • Adyashanti
  • Swami Maheshananda Saraswati (Wandering Yogi)
  • Yogrishi Vishvketu (Akhanda Yoga)
  • Lama Rabten
  • Angela Farmer
  • Tari Prinster (Yoga for Cancer)
  • And all the other teachers, both formal and informal I have met and will meet along the way

"...she shares her knowing and experience from a place of deep and humble wisdom, generosity and kindness..."

I first started yoga with Tracy more than 15 years ago and I can say that her classes just keep getting better and better. I currently attend her Online Friday Asana class and this gentle offering has become a fave part of my week that I crave. Tracy is hands down the best yoga teacher I have ever had. She is not only a highly skilled yoga practitioner and gifted teacher but she shares her knowing and experience from a place of deep and humble wisdom, generosity and kindness that leaves me thinking throughout my week. My body, mind and spirit are always so grateful after every class. She has a great sense of humour and is feisty and fun! I can't recommend this gem of a teacher and human enough.
